Wane is a sworn policeman serving with the Waitemata District Police Forensic Unit. He also chairs the runanga arm of Ngapuhi in Waitemata. Ngapuhi are willing to sacrifice quota in maintaining their moral and genealogical responsibility to protect the domain of Tangaroa from damage.

A keen diver and fisherman, Wane believes this resource will only stand a chance of survival via a politico-legal process supported by the collective will of Maori and mainstream NZ. Through the Guardians of the Sea Charitable Trust, he hopes to: achieve an attitude change toward enhancing our fisheries; prolong our existing marine eco-system through dependable research and improved fishing methods; lead in developing better relationships between Maori and other New Zealanders via rational and strategic thought, behaviours and learning.

Martin is the Managing Director of Warwick Fabrics (NZ) Ltd and director Warwick Fabrics (Australia). Based in Auckland with his wife Liz and family of three children, Martin has both a BA (Geography) and BCom (Management and Marketing) from Auckland University.

Martin has been a surfer, golfer and fisherman all his life and a keen supporter of option4 since its inception. “I believe the true recreational fishing voice has not been properly heard by the populace at large. I am also a committed supporter of the Hokianga Accord. My belief is that 99 per cent of the New Zealand public do not have a clue about what is really going on in our fisheries. My role as a trustee is to try to help simplify this very complex issue and support the sterling work of others to make sure there are “more fish in the water” for our kids and their grandchildren”.

Scott Macindoe

Scott helped establish the Cheltenham Beach Caretakers in 1992, a partnership with tangata whenua to better manage the shellfisheries that were close to being wiped out. This initiative is an ongoing role model for communities to make a diff erence in fisheries management. In 2000 he was involved in the establishment of option4. Today this group delivers input and participation in fisheries management and policy development of the highest order.

2005 saw Scott involved in the establishment of the Hokianga Accord. The outcomes flowing from this dynamic are reshaping the way we consider our management and stewardship obligations. Scott has a strategic perspective that continues to develop to this day - “more fish in the water” to ensure a high quality social and cultural wellbeing for the people of New Zealand and their visitors.

Together and with the support of our benefactors, this Trust can make a difference - to help ensure this cherished part of our lifestyle and environment is protected for all.”
